Product Description

Stunning vintage Kieninger & Obergfell standard (large) movement anniversary clock. It stands 11-½” tall including the dome. It features a classic porcelain dial with garlands of roses inside the Arabic numerals (the second picture best depicts the true color of the dial), black spade hands, decorative rope style columns, a pendulum locking device which operates by lifting the pendulum into a cutout at the back of the movement platform, and then swinging the locking lever to the right, a suspension spring guard, all brass leveling feet rounded at the bottom so as not to scratch fine furniture, and a shiny glass dome. It is in near mint, all original condition. Horolovar plate #1380, pendulum #102. This clock is approximately 40 years old.

The movement has been professionally disassembled, cleaned, lubed, and reassembled, and then thoroughly tested from a partial to full wind. The clock has a new suspension spring and mainspring, and is in excellent running condition. Watch it run in the Product Videos tab.

Kieninger & Obergfell (pronounced Keen-ing-ger oond O-berg-fel, or Koon-doe for short) was a very popular and successful German clockmaker. They began manufacturing anniversary clocks in the early 1930’s. In 1932, Kundo developed the first pendulum guide cup to help prevent the pendulum from shattering the glass dome if the clock was tipped at an angle. They were the first to produce miniature clocks in 1952, with midget clocks appearing in 1960. Kundo perfected their unique pendulum locking device in 1954. They continued making wind up anniversary clocks into the mid to late 1970’s.
